Greek House – Elliniki Estia is a center for Greek language lessons and culture manifestations, founded in September 1999, by 3 people with many combined years of experience in the fields of Greek language and Greek culture, who felt that the Northern suburbs were sorely lacking in an institution of this kind. Its aim is to be a Home from Home, to serve the symbolic meaning of “Estia” which stands for family, home and hospitality.
They say home is where the heart is, and our Home now, since 2005, is situated in the heart of Kifissia, in a beautiful villa (Dragoumi S. 7), with five seminar rooms, a well-stocked library and a nice courtyard, just next to the terminal train station. Our previous Home was also in a beautiful villa in the area of Kifissia, at Georganta 11.
Through our activities – courses, lectures and sometimes art exhibitions – Greek House’s purpose is to provide to the foreign community the language, the history, the culture, but also the modern way of living in Greece.
Seminar courses run from Monday to Friday and on offer are both morning and evening classes, at all levels (Beginners to Proficiency) in all speeds (2 times a week up to Intensive-every day). Conversation classes as well as private lessons are also offered. The groups are small so the teacher has time for each student and any problem they might have. All teachers are native Greeks and experienced professionals, with degrees in linguistics and/or philology, who truly love their job and their students.
But of course, Greek language lessons aren’t all. Greek House can offer also a wide variety of seminars such as, Ancient Greek, History or Mythology and much more to suit your needs.
So far people from all over the world aged 17 – 70 have learned Greek in Greek House and it seems that most multinational Companies and foreign Embassies in Greece choose Greek House when they need to learm Greek properly.
