The Italian University for Foreigners at Siena offers monthly and trimester-long intensive Italian language courses for foreigners. Our Italian courses consisting of 80 class-hours per month of Italian classes (20 class-hours of Italian per week).

Want to study abroad in Italy and learn Italian in Italy? The Italian University for Foreigners at Siena offers Italian language and culture courses to foreign students who want to do just that.

Courses are open to American students, Canadian students, European students, and all other international students having a high school diploma or equivalent document allowing them to pursue studies at the university level. We offer all levels of Italian, from absolute beginner to advanced.

I have no knowledge of Italian. Can I still enroll?
Yes. Our absolute beginner’s course is designed for those with no previous knowledge of Italian.
I studied some Italian, but don’t know what my level is. How do I select the correct course level?
On the first day of each Italian course all students will be given a placement test and an oral exam. The placement test takes place at 9:00am and the oral test takes places at 2:00pm.

Absolute beginners can indicate that they have no previous knowledge of Italian.
Why is there a low cost to high cost indicated in the program fee?
The program fee consists of two main components: tuition and housing. The tuition fee is one set price. However, depending on what type of accommodation you choose, your housing fees will vary. A room in a shared student apartment, for example, is significantly less expensive than a homestay.
How do I enroll in an Italian course at the Italian University for Foreingers at Siena?
1. Complete and send the course registration form at least 1 month before your selected Italian course starts. Attach a copy of your high school diploma.

2. Send your deposit. This fee is 1/2 of the total tuition cost for the course you have selected. (The outstanding amount is due upon your arrival at the University.)

3. Visa. Check with the nearest consulate for visa requirements. Once you have received your registration letter / acceptance letter from the Università Italiana per Stranieri di Siena, you can apply for your visa at the nearest Italian consulate.
